The 2005-2006 season marks the 9th year of Chorus Niagara as an independent organization. Formed in 1963 to complement the work of the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, the choir has grown from a modest twenty-four members to its present complement of about one hundred voices.

From 1963 to 1972 the Chorus was under the direction of conductors of the Niagara Symphony Orchestra Leonard Perlman and Milton Barnes. Leonard Atherton continued to expand the choir's horizons from 1972 to 1980, including the creation of a core Cantata Choir which he used for smaller-scaled works.

Shaw Festival

Above all, the Shaw Festival believes in the importance of art, that imaginative expression of ideas which reveals the subtlety and greatness of life. We believe that our plays by Shaw and his contemporaries and the culture of Shaw’s lifetime can best be revealed by a permanent company of actors who are knowledgeable, generous and talented.  There is ensemble acting here of a kind you can rarely see anywhere in the English-speaking world. Even the smaller roles are played by actors who are also leading performers in their own right; they help create a density of experience that is both subtle and informative. And alongside this celebrated Acting Ensemble are the best directors, designers, and writers from across Canada.
